Trust God Concerning Your Family

Wow!  Pastor preached a good one this morning!  It was on the home.  Fantastic!  One thing he said is something the Lord has been working with me on.  It had to do with we  women with strong personalities.  Is that a nice way to put it?  I forget how Pastor put it.  Anyway, the families of 106 sodomites were studied, and 81 had dominating mothers, 62 had overprotective mothers (Oh!  He might skin his knee!), and 66 mothers had made him their favorite child.  Wow!  What a warning to us!  But God had already told us, wives, be submissive to your own husbands, and that a meek and quiet spirit in a woman is of great price in God’s sight.  Now we know just a little bit about why.  God had already shown us some of the heartache created by favoritism in the stories of Joseph and of Jacob.  Many times I have had a different opinion than my husband.  It is important that I realize God gave my husband the job of ruling our family–not me!  He says in the New Testament, referring back to the story of Adam and Eve, that the woman was deceived, and in the New Testament that we are the weaker vessel.  God gives me the awesome privilege of being the support person to the ruler.  He tells me to reverence my husband.  Many of our disfunctional families are a direct result of our refusal to follow the owners manual put out by the creator of the family.  I am 44 years old and God has been patiently teaching me all of those 44 years.  In the past I have known His mandates, but more recently He is graciously allowing me to see some of the whys for the wherefores.  I only wish I had been more trusting of God’s ways all along.  God has been so merciful!

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.

Trust God concerning your family!
