In a recent poll I asked if you or your family had faced an unusual amount of spiritual warfare this year. So far twenty three people have responded–all with the same answer–yes. I asked the question because I just wanted to know if I and a couple of others I am close to are the only ones. I have faced unprecedented warfare this year. I have experienced such ugly thoughts and temptations that they have shocked me. We are winning but at times I have been wounded in the battle.
So, if we are all in this war, what can we do about it?
I am still making mistakes in this battle, but I have learned some things. You know that passage in Ephesians 6 that many of us memorized about the armor God has provided for Christians? Well, it’s to really use! When I sense that some of Satan’s fiery arrows are aimed at me I have learned to visualize myself raising that shield of faith which God has promised will quench all of those dangerous darts. I quickly think, okay, that helmet is in place–I am saved. Raise that shield, faith, with the left hand and get the Word of God (my sword) ready in the right. To become better practiced with my sword I must read, memorize and think about God’s Word. I must protect my loins, the bottom half of my trunk, by being truthful, admitting my sin. Be ready to make peace with man and God, protecting my ability to advance. See your body as the actual temple of God and you can understand why Satan hates you.
This is not a virtual war–IT IS WAR! Do you remember when the prophet asked God to open the eyes of his assistant so that he could see the spiritual warriors in the air around them? Well, there really is war going on around us. Our eyes don’t naturally see the spiritual things–only the physical.
As you face temptation, shocking thoughts, and whatever devices the devil comes up with for you, remember the instructions of Ephesians 6. Put your armor in place, plant those feet and stand!

Seems like the level of warfare has been turned up in the lives of those who are following Christ seriously.
Excellent advice, and from someone who I have personally watched and admired in battle, I take it very soberly.
Thank you, Steven. It kinda reminds me of Prince Caspian.
Ah, yes!!
