Chicken Foot Stew

Well, it happened. We were invited over for chicken foot stew. Now I know you’re all wondering how it was. Maybe I should just let you stew on it for a little while. ‘Wish you were here. :)

Thank you to those of you who are praying for the children’s program. Yesterday there seemed to be a surprising amount of spiritual interference in giving the gospel to the children. It just didn’t seem to penetrate their hearts or minds. Today more of you must have been praying! I could sense that the children were beginning to get it! I didn’t push for any decisions today. I don’t believe they were ready for that. I did leave it open for anyone to come talk more about it if they were interested. No one did. We’ll give it each day, maybe from a little different angle. Please pray for the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

One eleven year old boy was brought by his mother. When I asked for the name of his home church she told me he hadn’t been to church since he was 7. We’ve had to explain to this sweet young man what type of language is considered to be appropriate and what isn’t. He was very apologetic. Please pray that Joseph will understand the gospel and be drawn by the Holy Spirit into the family of God.

We have one sweet little guy who needs constant one on one attention. He is disruptive in the extreme. He likes to be held (sometimes) with your hand guiding his to help him with projects. He cannot seem to be still or obedient. Please pray for Junior.

Please pray for Kyle. He heard the gospel today. I just found out that he was asking his next teacher a lot of questions and had to go home before he was finished. Pray that Kyle will be back and that he will become a believer and have his life changed by the gospel.

Well, back to the stew. The stew itself was good. It had dumplings, yellow yam, bread fruit, pepper, carrots, etc. The chicken feet were challenging. I asked our hostess if she would please demonstrate how to eat them. Our host eats the whole thing, bones and all. Our hostess puts the foot in her mouth, spits out the bones and eats the rest. I put the foot in my mouth, spit out bones, chewed the skin and sent it down. A little hesitant to try that again I decided to open the next foot and remove the meat and place it alone in my mouth. There was no meat on it. It was skin, some white stuff, and bones. I ate the stew and didn’t try any more feet. The dear lady who cooked it for us is obviously a very good cook. The stew was great! I could just do without the feet.

Come on down for some chicken foot stew! You will at least enjoy seeing the packs of feet in the meat department at the supermarket! :)

I don’t believe chicken feet is on the top of foods I want to taste. :) I’m glad to hear about your burden for those kids. Will be keeping you in prayer!

Chicken feet are not on my list of “gotta try’s”! You’re brave to put it in your mouth! Ugh! My heart is with you in giving the gospel to precious children….even disruptive, disobedient or unattentive ones. Someone heard and received, maybe not the ones you were looking at. I remember being the overlooked child…except by God. He spoke to my heart as a child. We’re praying for your ministry with the children and otherwise.

Hey Mom! Thank you for stopping by for a read. :) I’ll keep that in mind–the overlooked child. I know about how the middle child or the writing child somehow blends in to the scenery. Thank you for the encouragement.
I love you.
