Christian Cancer

“So what’s a devil to do when a Christian is growing, thriving, and impacting the lives of others? Any ideas, fellow demons?”

“I know! Make them proud! Get them to begin looking around at their brothers and sisters who haven’t made the same decisions they have, and make them think they are better than their brother! That will put a quick end to their effectiveness!”

“But they have the scriptures. They know that their righteousness is like really nasty rags when compared to God’s holiness.”

“Yea, but they won’t apply that to themselves. They’ll think that’s for sinners–the people they think they used to be.”

And thus begins the cancer that destroys the effectiveness of many a person whose heart is turned to God.

God, please help us to keep this in focus.

I am so, so glad that you posted this, Mom! Wes and I have recently been talking about this very thing! What a powerful reminder. I have seriously begun to believe that almost all (if NOT all) problems in our lives can somehow be traced back to the root problem of pride. Thank you for sharing this thought! Btw, I love you!

Steven, I think we’ve all been guilty. Thank you for your important and effective input.
