Why do we fear it? It happens to us when we’re not expecting it. We’re studying a passage of scripture and suddenly we realize that something we have believed all of our life, and have ordered our life by, and have been assured by others it is so, is simply not in accord with the Word of God.(I must caution you here. If your new understanding of a passage of scripture contradicts other scripture, you have not understood correctly and should study the passage in the light of balancing passages. Scripture understood correctly never contradicts other scriptures, though it may seem to. Ex. Proverbs 26: 4 and 5) The light has come on, and now we must decide. Will we brush this realization off and go on as before? Will we choose to continue with life as it is, or will we have the courage to change? There are many average people in the world. There are many average Christians. Are you content to be average in the sight of your Redeemer? Study His Word and let it change your life.

Mrs. Corbett this is awesome! What a great thought! I know for myself I do not want to be average at anything. That may be my competitive nature but I want to excel at everything I do. Reading something in the word of God and realizing something I was doing in my life was not right, has happened time and time again. As I grow this happens to me on a regular basis. I think as you surrender your heart to God, change becomes easier. I find that the hard part then becomes standing stedfast in the changes and never going back. I think as we look at the quote unquote christian world around us it would be easy to be content with being average, because most people do not take the stand that an independant, fundamental, conservative christian takes. Even among Independant, fundamental, baptists there is still differances. We have to keep our eyes off of those around us that are average and know that our Lord expects more from us…..that is easy to say, but very hard to do! I love your blogs! Thank you for sharing them! Love you! Jan
Thanks, Jan. I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.
Wow. Tough truth to apply… not a fun thing, either.
I think it’s a good balance that you mention- it’s sometimes easy to find a verse that at first glance may appear to cause doubt and confusion, but when compared with other Scriptures, reconciles perfectly.
Thank you for taking the time to share your insights. They are encouraging and helpful.
This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for this post – it was meant for me! I often find myself not willing to change something, merely because I have heard differently for years, and I am fearful of what other Christians will think. Thank you for encouraging me to be bold for the Lord!
Elisabeth, thank you for letting me know the writing is helpful. My posts usually come through my own tears.
I love you.
Thank you for your input, Steven. It’s helpful to me.
