“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.” Ephesians 5:22-24
“Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.” Hebrews 13:17
According to Ephesians 5:22-24, who has the rule over the wife? It is this person she is to obey.
In Hebrews 13:7 we are instructed to remember those who have the rule over us who have spoken the Word of God to us. We are to follow their faith, considering the end of their conversation.
While we do hope our husbands have preached the Word of God to us, there are others who preach the Word to us. We are to remember them.
Wives, remember who God says has the rule over you, the one you are to obey in everything. “And if she will learn anything, let her ask her husband at home.” 1 Corinthians 14:35
“The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”
We aged women are given the duty of teaching these 8 things to young women.
“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14
When Paul preached to those of Berea, the scriptures tell us that they were more noble than those of Thessalonica because they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
If the noble Bereans checked Paul’s messages with the scripture, should we do any less? Wives, who has the rule over you?
