In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the Yahweh and depart from evil.

“Ask, and it shall by given you;” What is it? “In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths.” You will receive it; but what is it? You will receive God’s answer to acknowledging him in your situation.

Joseph received slavery and prison–training for his great work as 2nd in command in the nation of Egypt by which he saved thousands, perhaps millions of lives. Moses received 40 years exile in the desert–part of his training for the great work of his life–freeing 600,000 slaves and leading them to the land God had promised them.

The most painful experiences of our lives bring gifts with them in time–gifts of compassion, wisdom, understanding, and more. Those who experience great pain become the most effective people–especially in areas that relate to their pain.

So, ask. Ask in faith that you will receive. You will receive the direction from your loving God, who like loving earthly parents require their children to complete the education appropriate to that child. Though it may be painful, it will be worked into good for the asker.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.
